Laboratory Evaluation of Fugitive Dust Suppressants

labservices

Simpson Weather Associates (SWA) has been completing independent third-party laboratory evaluation of fugitive dust suppressants since the early 1990's for dust suppressant vendors, material handling facility, mines, material customers, and material transporters.  The majority of this work has been completed on the evaluation of in-transit dust suppressants.  Hundreds of both body and topical treatments have been evaluated.

SWA's laboratory testing protocol evaluates the response of dust suppressants when exposed to simulated environmental stresses, such as drying, thermal, precipitation, and wind.  The purpose of the laboratory evaluations are to identify dust suppressants that are likely to be successful during field use.  Dust suppressants passing the controlled laboratory evaluation stresses can be recommended for evaluation.  The laboratory evaluations also allow dust suppressant vendors to fine tune application and concentration rates prior to more costly and time consuming field evaluation.
