SWA Company Background
|
Simpson Weather Associates was established in 1974 and incorporated in 1980. Founded to deal with fundamental and applied problems in meteorology, SWA has expanded to included services in environmental areas such as air quality modeling and monitoring, fugitive emissions control, ground and surface water quality assessment and specialized field measurements and instrumentation development. Core scientists are augmented by highly experienced and qualified affiliated associates who are called upon to deal with specific problems. A full-time technical and support staff is also expanded periodically by part-time staff drawn from the University of Virginia community. Administrative, analytical and computing facilities are located at 809 East Jefferson Street in the professional hub of Charlottesville, Virginia. In-house computing is linked to advanced facilities including a Cray C98. Calibration facilities such as a wind tunnel and environmental chamber, together with a machine shop and technical libraries, are also available to SWA.
