The Mars Lidar Simulation Model (MLSM) Running the LSM |
Before the Lidar Simulation Model (LSM) can be properly executed, the user must either create a Mission Scenario experiment and run the Shot Coverage Model (SCVM) or the user must load an existing Mission Scenario experiment that has a previously created corresponding shot coverage file for the experiment. The LSM can be executed after selection from the MLSM Models menu from the main screen by clicking the Start LSM button.

A blue slider bar informs the user of the LSM 's simulation progress. To terminate the simulation prematurely, the user can click the Cancel LSM button. When the LSM has completed the simulation, the user is informed in the message window. The LSM names the ASCII output files after the user's Mission Scenario input file with an LOS extension for the DWL line of sight winds and an CO2 extension for the DIAL density information. If an error occurs during the simulation, the execution will be stopped and a message will be displayed informing the user of the error and what to do. After exiting the LSM, the user can view the last message generated from the SCVM or LSM from the MLSM Models menu.
If the user has chosen to re-run a previous LSM run, a message box will inform the user how the LSM renames pre-existing files.

After the user selects OK, the LSM will continue the simulation.

The Return to MLSM Main Page button closes the Run Lidar Simulation Model screen and returns to the MLSM main page from where the user can either use the Analysis Toolbox to evaluate the simulation's performance or exit the MLSM.
