The Mars Lidar Simulation Model (MLSM) How to enter model inputs and create a mission scenario |
In order to run the Shot Coverage Model (SCVM) or the Lidar Simulation Model (LSM), a Mission Scenario must be created or loaded from inventory. A Mission Scenario is defined as all platform/lidar inputs, atmospheric inputs, and simulation time block inputs.
Platform/Lidar Inputs
To enter model inputs for a platform and lidar configuration, click the Create Platform/Lidar Inputs button.

Notice in the screen below that once the Platform/Lidar inputs were satisfied, the Platform Data header turns green. If the user wants to make a change in the inputs, just click the Edit Platform Inputs button. If the user wants to erase all platform inputs, just click the Clear Platform/Lidar Inputs button.
Atmospheric Inputs
To enter model inputs for an Atmospheric configuration, click the Create Atmospheric Inputs button.

Notice in the screen below that once the Atmospheric inputs were satisfied, the Atmospheric Data header turns green. If the user wants to make a change in the inputs, just click the Edit Atmospheric Inputs button. If the user wants to erase all Atmospheric inputs, just click the Clear Atmospheric Inputs button.
Time Block Inputs
To enter in beginning and ending simulation time inputs, click the Create Time Block Inputs button.

Notice in the screen below that once the Time Block inputs were satisfied, the Time Block Data header turns green. If the user wants to make a change in the inputs, just click the Edit Time Block Inputs button. If the user wants to erase all Atmospheric inputs, just click the Clear Time Block Inputs button.
Mission Scenario
An ASCII summary of the Platform/Lidar, Atmospheric and Time Block inputs can be viewed by clicking the View Current Inputs button under Experiment File Inventory.

If the user chose to use the inputs as Mission Scenario under View Current Inputs screen, the Experiment header will turn green. This tells the user that all inputs have been defined in order to run the SCVM and the LSM.
To save the Platform/Lidar, Atmospheric and Time Block inputs as a Mission Scenario for future simulation runs, click the Save Experiment Inputs button as shown below. The DLSM names the Mission Scenario file with an SCN extension.

The Return to MLSM Main Page button closes the Experiment Manager and returns to the MLSM main page.
